Amber is a new Olio City contributor for Chicago and when she's not eating and drinking around town, she's traveling the world writing about food and drink in other exotic locales. She's gone spearfishing in Mexico and snowmobiling in Telluride. Here are her favorite spots to fuel up when she's home.

Where do you go for a healthy lunch?

Chicago Raw

"Chicago Raw has a great selection of vegan, raw food that is so delicious and satisfying. Plus, it's right across the street from my modeling agency, so super convenient!"

River North

Best place for Italian?

Formento's

"I like Italian food that isn't too heavy, but has bright Mediterranean flavors. Formento's is the best place for that and the booths there are so comfortable. They have great seasonal veggie dishes and addictive whipped ricotta. If you want to get a little decadent, the butcher steak, meatballs, and house-made pastas are great too."

West Loop

Where's your favorite spot for a girl's night out?

RM Champagne Salon

"RM Champagne Salon. Mostly because I love my bubbles and there's a great by the glass selection here. I love coming with friends for wine and cheese. They have a spacious patio in the summer and the interior is dark and intimate, so perfect for winter."

West Loop

Best place for chocolate in Chicago?

Cocoa + Co.

"Cocoa + Co. The owner, Kim, is not a chocolate-maker or chocolatier, but she curates a collection of the most amazing chocolate bars, bonbons, and confections from the best around the world. And the hot chocolate here is incredible."

Old Town

What event do you look forward to every year?

"I look forward to the James Beard Awards every year. It's such an honor that Chicago has been chosen to host the award ceremony for seven years – until 2021! It's a great excuse to dress up and celebrate all of Chicago's culinary achievements. Local chefs take the opportunity to show off for their visiting colleagues from around the country."

What must-see attraction do you recommend for out of town guests?

Art Institute of Chicago

"I will always love the Art Institute of Chicago. It has such a calming effect on me and the collection of Impressionist artwork is incredible. As a young girl, I was obsessed with the miniature rooms."

The Loop
